The incoming economic team of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is a wise choice—the composition quickly allayed the concerns of some in the business sector that the new administration may deviate from the policies of the outgoing administration.

In public service, one should not do things for recognition or accolades. Serving the country is already an honor and a privilege. Plaques, awards and decorations should not be the principal motivation for doing one’s best for the benefit of our people. But a public servant should be always grateful when recognized for excellence. Recognitions serve as inspiration to hard working and deserving government officials who sacrifice their time and talent for the greater good.

I want to congratulate the set of newly elected officials who will guide our nation for the next three to six years.


Challenges and opportunities await those who received fresh mandate from the electorate to serve the government and our people. I am confident that they are up to the task of serving the interest of the majority of our population, which, at 110 million, is now one of the largest in the world.
