The numbers are disheartening. Last April 2 the country logged a total of 15,310 new COVID-19 cases (3,790 of which were backlogs). The following day the number of new cases was 12,576 which brought our active cases to a staggering 165,715. These numbers might still climb before we feel the real effect of the most recent lockdown imposed by the government.
A little over more than a year since the COVID-19 pandemic caused a total lockdown of the National Capital Region and the entire island of Luzon, the so-called “NCR plus” bubble —composed of Metro Manila and four adjacent provinces — Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, and Laguna have been placed, again, under enhanced community quarantine or ECQ from March 29 to April 4 due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.
This Holy Week gives us respite and a time to reflect on ourselves. In this time of pandemic, the few days of rest should invigorate us in our daily fight against Covid-19 and provide us the clarity on how to best perform our job and do our share in helping the economy.
