Merry Christmas to all my readers and to the rest of the Filipino nation! My family and I wish everyone a safe, meaningful, and happy holiday season. I know it has been a difficult year and some might think that the pandemic has sucked the life out of the Filipino Christmas. But the celebration of Christmas is part of what we are as a people. The decorations are muted, the gifts probably simpler and less expensive, the parties are online, and the greetings physically distant, but Pinoy Christmas is here.
First of all, let me greet you Merry Christmas. May our Lord bless everyone as we celebrate this meaningful occasion, while still observing health protocols, to protect and cherish our family and loved ones.
There is no other way to put it. 2020 has been a horrendous year. We started the year with the rumblings of Taal Volcano which dislocated families and damaged houses and disrupted livelihood. Our country has been devastated by a number of strong typhoons that cost lives and damaged property. And of course, there is the coronavirus pandemic that has affected the entire world and has caused death, suffering, and economic loss.
