Twenty-twenty is a foregone conclusion insofar as the performance of the Philippine economy is concerned. Everybody suffered this year—from conglomerates and small-scale businesses to office workers and the ordinary Filipino.

Nelson Mandela, revolutionary, political leader, and former president of South Africa, once said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” And I absolutely agree. I think that education is our most effective weapon in the war against poverty. It is crucial in transforming our personal lives and it is indispensable in achieving prosperity for our country.

We are all waiting for that magic formula, the vaccine that would finally put an end to the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed and infected millions, disrupted our lives, halted our economies, and made our world come to a halt. The current global cases are now approaching close to 67 million and while more than 46 million have recovered, more than 1.5 million have perished. In the Philippines, the number of Filipinos affected have reached 438,069 as of December 6 while more than 8,500 have lost their lives.
