President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has formally lifted the state of public health emergency declared due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) by issuing Proclamation 297. Informally, of course, the public has been acting like the pandemic is over since 2022. People have been moving more freely, visiting tourist destinations, and, going about their daily lives.

It was a comprehensive accounting of the state of the nation, delivered in exactly 120 minutes and full of optimism for the future.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address on July 24, 2023 accurately summed up the current situation of the Philippines and its people, and relayed our aspirations and dreams to have a better quality of life by sustaining our economic momentum, building infrastructures and protecting our environment.

It is a tradition and a Constitutional mandate. The highest law of the land requires the highest official of the land to address Congress at the start of its session.
